Great first up runs from stable newcomers Brave Maddie and Grangemouth prior to Christmas. Their runs indicted that they should be winning sooner rather than later. In a strong maiden Brave Maddie found the line nicely at her first start. The experience gained from a nice ride from Harry Coffey and a positive first day at the track should make her very competitive dropping back to a Cranbourne maiden next Friday night. While still a preparation away on her debut performance she may be able to go to the paddock a winner.
Grangemouth purchased from the Inglis August Sale came to the stable after an intial preparation that yielded 4 placings from 6 starts. The son of Shocking has been given plenty of time to mature and despite his long time off he ran a slashing race first up to finish 2nd at Kyneton. He has derived great benefit from the run and will be aimed for a 1500m maiden next Friday at Cranbourne which will be another stepping stone to distances 1600m and beyond. His first up run indicated that he should break his maiden in his next few starts.
