I Am A Winner!

Jul 10, 2015

I Am Bacchus notched up another winner for his sire I Am Invincible with a come from behind victory at Corowa. It was a confidence boosting win from the 3 year old bay gelding after disappointing first up at Sale. With few options available in Victoria on turf tracks at the moment the stable is only a couple of hours drive from Kilmore to the NSW border. Given that the race was of equivalent prizemoney and we were able to secure the services of 6 time leading district rider Nick Souquet was the key. From the sticky draw I Am Bacchus began well and was able to slot in behind the leading bunch. At the half mile he lost his spot when another horse just come back in front of him a touch. Nick stoked him up and got him out in the clear on straightening giving him every opportunity to find the line. After spotting the leders a good 6 lengths he really got motoring over the final 200 metres to record a length victory. I Am Bacchus gives every indication he will get further backed up by the fact he is a half brother to the stayer Lorne Dancer. His win continued the good run by the stable in recent months recording 5 winners. I Am Bacchus will most likely head to a 1400m race in the coming weeks, while the owners enjoyed the stop offs at Parkers Pies and the Beechworth Brewery on the way home.
