FORMER Caulfield Cup-winning jockey Pat Trotter today provided Dwayne Dunn with the win that moved him into outright second on the Melbourne jockeys' premiership.

Trotter, who won the 1975 Cup on Analight, prepared Cyclone Andy to win the Sportingbet Handicap today.

While Trotter told Dunn he thought Cyclone Andy may need one more run to reach his peak, the four-year-old found plenty at the business end.

Trotter paid tribute to his son Michael and fellow Cranbourne trainer Mick Kent for helping him overcome Cyclone Andy’s leg injuries.

“I still think there's a lot of improvement in him,” Trotter said.

Sent out a $5.50 shot, Cyclone Andy held off a late lunge from Laugh At Life, $6, to win by a head with one and a quarter lengths to Al Jandar, $6, third.

Cyclone Andy’s success gave Dunn a double and took him past Luke Nolen into second place behind Glen Boss on the metropolitan premiership.

Dunn has enjoyed a spectacular second half of July since returning from a holiday.
